To what I have learned this year...

I feel as though this year has been a lot of growth, and failure while at the same time learning from it all. I think every time I think of technology now I will see it in a different light, digitizing movements taught me a lot about how to think about the world in a way that goes beyond the physical, movements are now people but also websites they can exist in the most random places have the outlandish ideas. I believe these new ideas of how we see our selfs as a society will help us deal with what problems lay ahead, for it is the responsibility of people to continue the advancement of society. A society that does not evolve and improve to me is a society that perhaps could fail.

Universal Health Care in the News

http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0805/S00169.htm

After reading this story I have become somewhat scared if Senator McCain is elected president of the United States. His health care solution although different and a new way of looking at the problem, I feel as though that if we were to let companies off the hook for providing health care that the problem will only compound. I see the whole idea of that the incentive for making money for insurance companies and medical companies would go down, but I think the idea of the sky is going to fall is a tactic that the companies use to put fear into people. If this were true a lot of things would go down but there is always money to be made, I use the example of postal service when email came out instead of mail being sent people started using the postal service to send packages that they ordered from the internet. I think like any industry thats what would happen with medical companies is there would be a shift in the market.

Art. In the movement of Universal Health Care

I found some art on deviant art that had to do with how health care is all about the cost. The picture was a of a man putting money into his iv machine. I think what the artist was trying to say is that we live in a system where its all about money and not the importance of good quality health care. I think a lot of the art in this movement has to do with how the government just lets people get sick and more sick and how cost means more than say the health of citizens.

here is a link to the piece I found which I thought was a very good piece of work.

Tilly's analytical model. Universal Health Care

What is the over all goal it wishes to accomplish?

I think the overall goal of my movement is to provide health coverage to all American's no matter what kind of income, gender or race.

Sherry A Glied "Universal Coverage One Head at a Time -- The Risks and Benefits of Individual Health Insurance Mandates." The New England Journal of Medicine 358, no. 15 (April 10, 2008): 1540-1542. http://0-www.proquest.com.cals.evergreen.edu:80/ (accessed April 23, 2008).

What is the campaign plan to achieve this goal?
The plan is to inform and hopefully gain support through the political process to inspire change through bills etc.

Samuel Y Sessions, Philip R Lee. "A Road Map for Universal Coverage: Finding a Pass through the Financial Mountains." Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law 33, no. 2 (April 1, 2008): 155. http://0-www.proquest.com.cals.evergreen.edu:80/ (accessed April 23, 2008).

GNU,Free software, copyleft, open source.

I am not really sure what GNU is but through research I have found out that it is a operating system that is alternative to windows or unix. I find the layout of GNU to be really nice and easy to use at least from the pictures I have seen. I have been pretty much a Windows user for the last 15 years so I am not the most knowledge person when it comes to other OS's.

I have used Free software many of times in fact back when I didn't own Microsoft Office I used a free software program to write a lot of my class work in. I am always on the look out for good free software because there is always something I need to do that I cant always accomplish with my computers programs.

I have heard the term copyleft only in passing I am not really sure what it is exactly, although from the name I am sure it has something to do with open source coding. Copy left has to do with distributing programs that have been modified that were copy writed to begin with.

I am very informed with what open source is and what it means to people that use it. I know that a lot of people use open source code to make some products better IE Linux, some mac programs and etc.
